There are several reasons why the cost of fuel fluctuates wildly. But, experts believe more can be done to address the underlying issues that lead to the increase in price of fuel.
For the longest time, domestic fuel prices are predominantly determined by international prices. However, many countries have adopted their own automatic fuel pricing mechanism that has helped avoid sharp increases (and decreases) in domestic prices.
In regard to the recent continued rise, experts believe that Kenya too, can develop a formula that strikes a balance which ensures government takes its revenues, oil marketers get their cut and cushions consumers from feeling the heat.
