How NCBA is shaping Kenya’s next golf champions
NCBA seeks to inspire future Kenyan glory in golf by nurturing young golfers through the NCBA Junior Golf Series, which is endorsed by the Junior Golf Foundation of Kenya (JGF).
This year JGF received KSh12 million from NCBA to support junior golf events focused on nurturing young talent and expanding access to the sport.
The Junior Golf Series provides a pathway for talented golfers aged between 6 and 18 across the country and the region to chase their dreams of becoming professional golfers.
Nelly Wainaina, the Group Director, Marketing, Communication and Citizenship at NCBA, explains the thinking behind the initiative,
“We do feel that this is a great opportunity for us to develop one more sport in Kenya, where you see athletics being big, football being big, rugby being big, and golf can also get to better levels than it is at right now. NCBA is not all about making money. We’re also about giving back to the community, and when it comes to sports development, this is absolutely at the core of what we do.”
There will be 49 junior events in Kenya, 22 in Uganda, and 3 in Tanzania, with Rwanda hosting its first junior event and golf clinic. All these efforts underline NCBA’s efforts to inspire and develop the next generation of golfers in the East African region.
NCBA has invested a total of KSh 60 million for its 2025 golf activities which fall under its ‘Change the Story’ campaign.
The flagship of the NCBA golf sponsorship is the NCBA Golf Series, now in its fifth edition. The Series will tee off 159 times across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
