How to keep your power bill in check
Electricity is one of the largest and recurring expenses in many households in Kenya. Every year, electricity costs keep rising, forcing Kenyans to tighten their purse strings while seeking alternative ways to power their homes without going broke.
In August 2025, the Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority reported that as part of its price review, Kenyans would have to pay KSh 5.24 more per kilowatt of electricity starting in October.
For most households, this means steeper power bills and further straining already tight budgets to light homes.
